What About the Outside?

Because automotive technology is so advanced today, many of us think of auto care as oil changes, and basic maintenance, and fail to remember or realize the importance of our vehicle’s exterior.

Today’s automobiles are a serious investment and most of us are proud to drive our cars, trucks, and suv’s, and some of us strive to keep our rides clean and as worry free as possible because it makes us feel good.  Yet for others, maintaining a car or truck is like a small insurance policy that maximizes the highest possible return when we decide to sell or trade.

“Unfortunately, many consumers are simply too busy with hectic work schedules, long commutes, and getting the kids to school to address the exterior maintenance needs of their vehicles”, says Jay McCall, Owner of Go Dentless, a local provider of Paintless Dent Removal services. “Or, they just don’t realize the impact of the loss of  resale value they are allowing to occur.”

Most Americans are keeping their cars for more than five years. In the greater Washington, D.C. area, the majority of  consumers that we meet keep their vehicles two to five years.  It is recommended in order to maintain, if not increase your vehicle’s resale value that you have your vehicle professionally detailed at least once or twice a year, and have door dings, dents, and scratches removed when they occur. It will cost you less to have these imperfections fixed as they occur versus an all at once approach before you sell or trade. Plus, it just feels good to drive a clean car!

Selling? Trading in? Lease Turn In?

Paintless Dent Removal puts money back in your pocket.

It’s no secret that a clean car will earn you more money when you go to sell, trade or off lease. According to a study done by Manheim Auto Auctions, a major auto remarketer in the U.S., for every $1 invested in reconditioning the return is $3-5. Obviously, we see slightly higher returns in the retail consumer markets.

Sell that car! Today’s consumers are more informed and market savvy than ever before. A vehicle will sell for closer to retail value without dings and dents and buyers are less apt to haggle as much over a clean car if the car is worth the advertised price. Furthermore, a ding free care suggests that the seller cared for the vehicle and that it is probably in better shape overall as a result.

Time to trade in? To maximize your trade in value not only should the vehicle be mechanically sound, but it should preferably be free of dings and dents. It costs dealerships money to fix existing problems and repair exterior damage and those costs are passed along generally in the form of less trade in value.

Off Lease? Read the fine print first! Most lease agreements stipulate that scratches, dings, and dents left on the vehicle will be repaired by the manufacturer at a cost to you in the form of a chargeback. The manufacturer usually charges you the consumer, about three to four times what you would pay to have the repairs made directly. How do we know this? We repair large numbers of lease turn ins for the manufacturers! Consider having the service completed directly prior to turning in your vehicle and put money back in your pocket!

Interior Repair
Don’t forget about your interior. If your vehicle suffers from carpet stains, cracks in the vinyl, cigarette burns, headliner damage, bolster or steering wheel fade, or even leather rips or tears, you’ll want to have them repaired. Call us for a free estimate today.

Paintless Dent Repair

All new car owners dread that first dent. No matter how it happens, the first dent can make a person feel that their car will never be the same again. Many dents and dings can now be repaired without a trace, when the work is performed by a skilled technician. And techniques have developed to the point that dings can be removed with the original paint in place.

Consumer Awareness Increasing
Paintless dent removal (PDR) has become widely used over the past two decades by car dealers, rental agencies and auctions to prepare vehicles for resale. Yet very few consumers are aware the process exists. Specially fabricated tools and techniques for PDR have been developed to remove dents, often up to the size of a football, from almost any body panel of a vehicle. No sanding, body filler or repainting is necessary. In most cases, when the process is complete the dent is no longer visible.

What Can Be Fixed?
Paintless dent repair is very effective for the following situations:

  • from very small to large dents;
  • generally 1990 model year and newer vehicles;
  • the paint has not been broken or cracked;
  • the dent is not near the edge of a panel;
  • the panel has not had previous body repair.

Advantages of Paintless Dent Repair
A number of advantages for paintless dent repair include:

  • no repainting or body filler needed;
  • less expensive than traditional body repair;
  • same-day service in most cases;
  • no risk of paint overspray on other vehicle areas;
  • • no risk of incorrect color matching;
  • vehicle retains original paint.
    A vehicle with original paint retains a higher value than a repainted vehicle. Even if it is just a door or a fender, it is always preferable to maintain the original paint on a vehicle for as long as possible.
